Website Designing – what to look after
The Guide to Basic Graphics Web Design for Beginners
Most of the time, using a template web design may be the only choice for starting webmasters in terms of designing their websites. Truthfully, templates should only be used by beginners or if you don’t really care much for rankings and web traffic. But if you plan to expand your website in the future it’s a good idea to ditch the template design altogether and create your own website layout. If you can’t afford to hire a professional web designer at present though, you can choose to design it yourself. How could you do this with no background in web designing? Well, a lot of trial and error will come in your immediate future if you so choose to design it yourself but it’s not an impossible task. For a beginner with little no experience in web design, there are a few golden rules that you should follow if you hope to ever create a professional looking website.
To give you an understanding of the task ahead, I have listed some of the important guidelines that graphic designers adhere to when constructing a snappy and professional looking website.
Rule #1: Uniformity
Creating your design layout in a limited circle of choice colors, fonts and images is important if you want to create a sort of symbol for your website. Never choose more than 2 fonts, 2 will suffice and will look professional. One font will be used for titles and headers while your second choice will be mainly used for the text body or content. Choosing a color should also complement each other. If you chose from a distinct group of color with the same shades you should focus on using from that level of pastel. Think of the color for your website as your superhero costume, this will be the iconic color of your website and you will want people who visit your website immediately register the name of your domain just by glancing the color. This goes the same with your logo, designing a logo should be definitive whether your just creating a personal website or for business. Everything should be in the same level of design layout.
Rule#2: Keep it Simple
For beginners, it’s important to start at the very bottom and work your way up the ladder. Designing websites is no different; you should never bite more than you could chew. You should keep the layout design in your reach so that you will not be stumped at some point because of inexperience. Keep it simple and organized. One technique used by web designers involves creating an imaginary line for readers to follow; you can use a distinct color for this. Know that visitors of website will then to focus on 35% of your website as a whole. Directing their attention to this margin will ease their browsing and help you put your point across more efficiently.
Rule#3: Plan it on Paper First
One of simplest method is also one of the oldest; creating a mock design of your finished product on paper will give you an idea of what the finished product will look like on the screen. This will save you a lot of time and effort as well. First and foremost, print out your designs, sample text and images on paper and rearrange them to see if they will fit together. This is much easier than trying it out on your computer as you go, it reduces stress from constant deletion and will ensure that by the time you are ready to apply your design into your website; you already have the perfect design to guide you step by step.
